A summer at Sher Garner is an excellent way to enhance your legal education. Our summer associate program is our primary recruiting tool. Sher Garner hires summer associates with a view toward associate employment.
We make every attempt to have our summer associates become actively involved in all aspects of our practice. For example, you may participate in the documents, structuring and closing of commercial transactions, and all aspects of trial work. Summer associates routinely accompany attorneys to depositions, trials, mediations, closings, drafting sessions and on-site inspections.
Most of our summer associates split their summer employment with other law firms; however summer associates are required to spend a minimum of six weeks with us.
We ask summer associates to identify one or more practice areas that interest them. Each associate may then receive projects in one or more of those areas at a time.
While at the firm, each summer associate is matched with a team of lawyers who act as mentors and advisors. We believe this structure allows the summer associate greater access to knowledge about the firm, as well as a chance to meet lawyers in a variety of practice areas. Member advisors guide the summer associate through assignments and may offer to critique work product. Associate advisors offer help with assignments as well as introductions to lawyers at the firm through lunches and social gatherings.
Our social activities allow students and attorneys to meet and relax outside work. Sher Garner’s summer program is designed to give summer associates a chance to become fully acquainted with our attorneys and get a realistic view of life as an associate at the firm.
Summer associates are paid weekly salaries that are competitive with those paid by other major firms in the same city.
Non-Discrimination Policy
Sher Garner is committed to a policy against discrimination in interviewing and hiring and all other aspects of employment based upon gender, race, color, natural origin, age, disability, veteran status, religion, or sexual orientation.
